Imagine my youth and
forgive the rest: unrequited
starbursts and flames
I did not feed
These are natural muses, beauties
fully recognized and thirsty,
inescapable burdens
But
when you shatter my
country, remember this
wilderness was burned long
before delusions of significance
led audiences to build
their own
theatres and pretend
stage directions into cause
and effect
Inseparable moments
mask rituals
Greetings are farewells
are greetings asleep
in ashes lit by neon
tombstones without names
or
dates, only fetishes, rivers,
and start-up patent
registrations
Here: lies
Fog settles and condones
forgetting, precious
metals fetch summer
homes, summer families
Children among pebbles
become
empty hallways illuminated
by design principles
There are no backup files
to help
you
remember my youth.
